I actually have Dot Complicated moments about once every 6 months. I have some pretty good digital boundaries I’ve set for myself, like not using tech during mealtimes or after the kids go to bed. But those boundaries start to get fuzzy and slip away in a 6-month cycle.
The warning bell is different each time, but all are equally powerful. Whether my kids peer at me over the top of my laptop and ask me to watch a movie, or my arm gets numb from hunching over my desk and clicking a mouse for too long, or I find myself aimlessly pinning stuff to Pinterest at 2 a.m., I know: it’s time to reset, regroup, and reconnect with the people that matter most to me.
