Each morning, when I see my iPhone loading new emails in my personal account, I get a bit of anxiety. Seriously, 25 emails came in while the people I call friends were supposed to be fast asleep? But most days I breathe a sigh of relief, realizing I can quickly delete most of them. After all, the last thing I need to start my day with is a bunch of marketing emails. Sure, I may miss out on a deal, but I’m saving myself some sanity.
Then, along came PeeqPeeq. Recently a former Yahoo! colleague of mine reached out to tell me about a new app that would change my mornings — and the way I view marketing emails. I love hearing that some of the smartest people I’ve ever worked with are out there creating groundbreaking solutions in technology, and I couldn’t wait to give it a try. (And, as it turns out, RokketLaunch — the company behind PeeqPeeq — is made up of and backed by bright Yahoo!, Shazam, TechCrunch alums.)
Within a few days of downloading PeeqPeeq, I was sold on the functionality. The innovative (free!) app connects to your email inbox and automatically creates a folder — simply named PeeqPeeq — where it filters all marketing emails. So, when you’re ready to shop, you open the app on your iPhone or iPad and flip through the emails which are presented like a catalogue. Yes, one catalogue made up of all your favorite brands. Cool, right?
But here’s the thing. I’m not a shopper. Most of the marketing emails I receive are for sites where I’ve bought a wedding or birthday gift. One time. Others are sites I gave a try, but found didn’t suit my style or needs. But I’m still getting a bunch of email from them — daily. Now, with PeeqPeeq, I can easily go into the folder in my email account and mass delete emails, or quickly go through and unsubscribe to the ones I never open anyway. Now that’s technology that’s simplifying my life.
As a consumer, I love that PeeqPeeq gives me a cleaner inbox, and a more beautiful, engaging shopping experience. As a marketer, I can’t help but think the app also helps make marketing emails more targeted — in delivery time and content, as well as more clickable.
For anyone struggling with inbox overflow (so…everyone), PeeqPeeq is an easy, free and necessary download.
