The Atavist has been nominated for nine National Magazine Awards and two Emmys, among numerous other reporting, writing, and design accolades. Prior to The Atavist, Darby was deputy editor of Foreign Policy and online editor and assistant managing editor of The New Republic. She was a 2018 Sundance Institute New Frontiers Story Lab Fellow and she’s with me today to discuss the importance of good journalism in the digital age.
