An expectant mother-to-be can’t see or hold her child during pregnancy, but she is connected to him/her in a way that no one else is. That’s what makes an ultrasound so exciting: for a moment, she’s able to see the baby that she feels developing inside her.
For visually impaired mothers, though, ultrasounds are a bittersweet moment. Luckily, Huggies Brazil recently changed that for a special mom-in-waiting—and documented the results in a new project.
The video, Meeting Murilo (check it out below), introduces us to 30-year-old Tatiana Guerra, who lost her sight at age 17. At the 20-week mark in her pregnancy, she enters the clinic for an ultrasound—and is thrilled when the doctor hands her a 3-D printed sculpture so she can “see” her son.
Funded as part of an ad campaign by the Brazilian branch of the diaper giant, Huggies teamed up with ad agency Mood and 3-D printing firm The Goodfellas to produce the project.
Check out the video below. Warning: this one’s a serious tear-jerker.
