In my mind, Facebook is one singular friend with multiple personalities. My Facebook postings are normally a healthy mix of positivity and snark. As a general rule, I do not air my dirty laundry, though, so when I had a miscarriage recently I debated whether to share my experience publicly. Then I decided that if I didn’t share, it would feel  like lying to a close friend.

What happened next was absolutely beautiful.

My friends and acquaintances shared their pregnancy loss stories. And my mind was blown by how many people have gone through this. Most of my friends had never said anything publicly, so I had no idea about their losses. Then they all started talking to each other. This beautiful community of support emerged as I sat back and watched. And cried.
